Well set up and well run clubs are, without doubt, one of the most effective ways of managing any sport. PW are no exception, the result of peer pressure can never be underestimated. There are a number of PW clubs in the UK who do a fantastic job by shifting control of craft away from local and harbour authorities.
During the past couple of years clubs have been set up in Clacton, Tayport and Herne Bay in what can only be described as a very professional manner, with quite astonishing results. The dedication of the organisers and members never fails to astonish. Gary Slater from Clacton, Trevor Kenney of JAWS and Ray Barton from Tayport we salute you, in all these areas, difficult situations have been resolved to everybody's benefit.
There is also a number of new clubs being set up with assistance from the PWP at the moment. Poole, for example, where a proactive approach by a number of groups has resulted in what is going to be a very successful club with extensive membership advantages. Chapman Sands Sailing Club on Canvey Island will also be able to launch PW from Spring. This is just the start!
